The Cast

Jason Crystal (Edmund Swettenham) Jason is making his debut appearance on the Monmouth Players stage. He has appeared in the independent film Never Among Friends, supplied voices for the animated series Madara, played Herr Zeller in The Sound of Music for Marlboro players, and most recently played Marvin Scott in Center Players' production of I Never Sang for My Father. He thanks Monmouth Players for the opportunity to perform with such a talented cast and crew and Bill Rogers for his persistence. |

Charlie Deitz (Inspector Craddock) Charlie has been bouncing around the entertainment world for years. He's traveled from radio to cable and dot.com commercials, from Freehold to London, and from community theater to movie sets. On stage, he's performed in Romeo and Juliet (Friar Laurence), The Odd Couple (Oscar), Of Mice and Men (Candy), Miracle on 34th Street (Kris Kringle), Night of the Iguana (Shannon), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Big Daddy), Diary of Anne Frank (Otto Frank), plus dozens of lesser known works. When he is not working or appearing on stage, Charlie fills his spare time as a firefighter/EMT. He thanks the powers that be for giving him a loving wife and family, without whom, none of this would be possible. Charlie is a member of the New Jersey Repertory Company. |

Mel Evans (Julia Simmons) Mel is pleased to be making her triumphant return to the Monmouth Players stage after appearing in last season's Lend Me a Tenor and Jake's Women. Mel is a 2002 graduate of The College of New Jersey and now works at a job which she doesn't fully understand. This February Mel will be fulfilling a lifelong dream when she appears as a "sassy maid" in Shakespeare 70s production of The Way of the World. Many thanks to Paul and Lori and the rest of the Monmouth Players for being willing to put up with her diva fits yet again, and to Mom and Becky because she does so in every program. |

Curt Foxworth (Patrick Simmons) Curt makes his Monmouth Players debut. His breeding suggested he might undertake such an endeavor as his late grandfather Billy Fansler once helmed this very same troupe (in the 60s and 70s). He most recently performed with All College Theater of TCNH and Shakespeare '70 in such productions as The Lion in Winter, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Arcadia. Curt lives in Middletown, drives a sea-foam green Saturn, and loves horse racing and dining out. |

Kay Martines (Miss Marple) Kay is a British Citizen who has lived in the USA for four years after marrying her husband Peter in 1999. She now lives in Monroe, NJ with her nine cats (yes -9! It's not a misprint!) and two horses. Kay trained as a professional actress at the prestigious "Bristol Old Vic Theatre School" in England. She worked extensively in film, radio, and theater in the U.K. and in Austria with "The Vienna English Theatre." In 1987, feeling like a career change, she joined the Thames Valley Police and retired after 15 years. During that time, however, she was involved in many amateur theater companies, choreographing musicals and directing plays such as J. B. Priestly's An Inspector Calls. This is her first performance with the Monmouth Players. |

Tammy Owens (Phillipa Haymes) Tammy returns to the stage of NJ theater after an incredibly long hiatus. Having been away from performing in since age 5, she is thrilled to be returning to the stage. Special thanks to Paul, Lori, and Ar for the opportunity, Mom and Dave for understanding and Dad for teaching me the definition of acting. |

Lori Renick (Mrs. Swettenham) Lori directed our Jake's Women as well as acting as Diana in Lend Me A Tenor and Ida in The Cemetery Club last season. Favorite roles include Bubbie in Crossing Delancey, Lenny Magrath in Crimes of the Heart and Minerva Osterman in Web of Murder. When not on stage, she spends time working in her garden, hanging out with her ten cats and playing with her new puppies, Truman and Mandie. Lori would like to thank the cast and crew for all their hard work (especially Paul). A special thanks to our audience and long time patrons, without your support none of this would be possible. |

Rachel M. Scalzo (Mitzi) Rachel is excited to be performing in her second Monmouth Players production, having first appeared as Karen in Jake's Women last winter. She fell in love with the stage at a young age and later took an avid interest in directing. She made her directorial debut with "The Good Foot Players," a group founded at her home church in Shrewsbury. Currently, Rachel teaches at Saint John Vianney High School in Holmdel, and is the assistant director of the theater department. Presently, they are working on The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. She hopes you will sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. |

Some of her more notable stage credits include Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe, with various theater groups, Prisoner of Second Avenue, with various theater groups (including Pine Tree Players), and The Odd Couple (female version) with the Spotlight Players. Marge also directs and is honored to be sharing the stage with this distinguished group of actors. |

Paul Renick (Co-Director): Paul has been involved with the Monmouth Players for the past decade, serving the last six years as the Players' President. While playing Sam in Crossing Delancey fulfilled a lifetime dream, building sets and directing remain his true passions. Paul would like to thank Lori for being his inspiration.
Ar Loecke (Co-Director): Ar has been involved in theater for many years in many capacities: Producer, Director, Props, Stage Manager and Actress. "I am so pleased to be working with a great cast and a wonderful Co-Director and a swell bunch of co-workers. We are looking forward to a great 50th season and I am happy to be able to be a part of such a wonderful achievement. I Love Theater. I enjoy every aspect of live theater from the preparations to opening night and most of all entertaining an appreciative audience like we have at Monmouth Players."
